1. Information We Collect

We only collect information that is absolutely necessary to provide the LinkVault service:

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication credentials.
  • Saved Content: We collect the URLs, page titles, descriptions, preview images, tags, and notes of the links you explicitly choose to save to your vault.

2. Chrome Extension & Browser Permissions

The LinkVault browser extension requires certain permissions to function correctly. We want to be completely transparent about how these are used:

  • Active Tab & Host Permissions: We request permission to read the URL and metadata of your active tab only when you click the extension icon or the on-page floating button to save a link. We do not monitor, track, or record your general web browsing history.
  • Context Menus: Used solely to provide a right-click "Save to LinkVault" option.
  • Storage: Used to keep you securely logged in and store your UI preferences locally on your device.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your data is used strictly to operate, maintain, and improve the LinkVault service. This includes syncing your saved links across your devices, authenticating your session, and facilitating the sharing of links within Groups you actively participate in. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data or saved links to third parties for advertising or any other purpose.

4. Data Sharing & Groups

By default, all links saved to your personal vault are private. If you join or create a shared Group, the links you specifically add to that Group will be visible to other authenticated members of that Group. You retain the ability to delete your links from shared Groups at any time.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You have the right to request access to your data, or request the complete deletion of your account and all associated links at any time. If you delete your account, your data will be permanently removed from our active servers.
